Description: Heartwood typically has no markings and is golden brown. Straight and sometimes wavy grain with a texture that is coarse, uneven and oily to the touch. A white glistening deposit is sometimes present.

Origin: Southeast Asia
Working Properties: Somewhat difficult to work with on power tools. Severely blunting effect on cutting tools. When nailing pre-drilling is required. Gluing and stains well. Takes oil finishes well.
Mechanical Properties: Great dimensional stability with medium bending (13710 psi) and crush strength (7605 psi). Resistance to shock is low. Splits easily and is considered brittle. Steam bending characteristics are good.
Janka Hardness: 1050
