Description: Heartwood color can vary from pinkish to purple-brown with irregular black markings. Grain is straight to slightly wavy with a medium to fine texture.

Working Properties: Difficult to work on either hand or power tools with a medium blunting effect on cutters. When planing area that has interlocked or wavy grain, a reduced cutting angle is recommended. Pre-drilling required for nailing. Oily specimens may experience gluing or finishing problems. Care must be taken to achieve a good finish.
Mechanical Properties: Denser and tougher than Brazilian Rosewood. This wood is too heavy for bending.
