Description: Heartwood features a varied palette of red orange, purple colors with dark to black grain lines. Typical grain pattern is swirly. Larger trees produce a straighter grain.

Working Properties: Machines well with sharp hand and power tools. Reduced cutting angle is required for planing or molding and the surface can be rendered very smooth to the touch. Pre-drilling is required. Takes stains well and can be brought to an excellent finish.
Mechanical Properties: Satisfactory bending (10067 psi) and crush strength (5776 psi).
