Description: Heartwood is reddish-brown with light red and/or purple veining. Grain is straight to interlocked. It's texture moderately coarse but even.

Origin: Africa
Working Properties: Works easily with hand tools or machinery. Reduced cutting angle recommended. Moderate to severe blunting of cutters. Pre-drilling required for nailing and screwing. Gluing can be difficult due to gum pockets. Stains and polishes easily. Can be brought to an excellent finish.
Mechanical Properties: The possible exudation of gum pockets makes steam bending and/or gluing troublesome.
