Description: Heartwood color starts at a deep red and, upon exposure to the sun, tones down to a dark purple-brown with red streaks. Grain is straight to interlocked. Texture is slightly open grained.

Origin: Africa
Working Properties: Despire its heavy weight, Padauk has a slight blunting effect on cutters and machines easily. Nails, screws, and glues very well. Polishes to a excellent finish.
Mechanical Properties: Bending stength (15438 psi)and crushing strength (7720 psi) are rated as excellent. Medium stiffness and resistance to shock loads.
