Description: Creamy white to reddish brown colors with a straight, sometimes wavy grain pattern. Longer rays than Soft Maple with a fine and even texture.
Other Names: White Maple, Sugar Maple, Rock Maple
Origin: North America
Working Properties: Can be difficult to work with. Moderate dulling effect on cutters. Reduced cutting angle required for wavy or curly grain patterns. Nails and screws require pre-drilling. Takes stains, glues and polishes very well.
Mechanical Properties: High bending (15800 psi) and crushing strength (7830 psi). Medium stiffness. Steam bends very well.
Janka Hardness: 1450
