American Walnut is mostly used for cabinetwork. It is a superior wood to use for gunstocks because it keeps its shape and it very light-weight. It is commonly found as veneers, furniture, novelties, and moldings. The machining qualities of walnut are exceptional, but are also easily worked with hand tools. Walnut is fairly resistant to splitting.
